PAIR OF CARVED MALLARD DECOYS - DATED & SIGNED - CHARLES MOORE

Description

Offering a pair of hand-carved Mallard duck decoys with glass eyes, combed and detailed painting.
The Hen decoy features brown and black coloration and the Male shows white, black and brown.
They each have a blue detail on both sides (see photos).
Both are signed “Chas. Moore ’86” to the undersides.
Approximately 18" long & 5 1/2" wide.
The decoys were created by master Illinois carver, Charles Moore, from De Kalb, Illinois.
These were featured in Hunting & Fishing Magazine, May 2009.
Excellent workmanship!
Since purchasing this pair, Charles Moore, died at his home, May 8, 2021, at age 86.
An avid sportsman, naturalist, teacher, raconteur, individualist, noted decoy carver and painter,
Army veteran, and Cubs and Bud man, he inherited his father’s love of the outdoors and his talent for painting waterfowl. Charles was an antiques enthusiast, operated a small antiques shop in DeKalb during the 1970s.
Charles' Decoys are highly collectible and this is an excellent pair to add to any collection.
